Clay Diary: The Window
The design for the mosaic Das Fenster, MA000001 was based on the above digital photo of The Moravian Pottery & Tile Works in Doylestown, PA. "Das fenster" is German for "the window".
When I began taking classes at the Tile Works in January 2001, my work space was located in a corner area of the second floor, as indicated by the window in the mosaic. I chose this area to work in because the sun would often shine through the window and illuminate my workspace. This area was also my designated work space during my apprenticeship in 2002. I spent many hours looking out that window ... dreaming of the future.
